A mulher que gravou Jeniffer Castro dentro do avião da Gol por não ceder o lugar próximo à janela do avião a uma criança chama-se Eluciana Iris Almeida Cardoso. Ela tem 54 anos, mora em Belo Horizonte e já foi candidata a vereadora e a deputada estadual por Minas Gerais. É advogada, nutricionista clínica e escritora, além de produtora cultural.
Eluciana já foi homenageada na Assembleia Legislativa de Minas Gerais (ALMG) pela “relevante contribuição na cultura nacional e na promoção de ações que visam propagar a literatura, a diversidade e a inclusão social, em apoio ao Institut Cultive Suisse Brésil”.
A homenagem tem autoria da deputada Ana Paula Siqueira (Rede) e ocorreu em junho de 2023, segundo informações disponíveis no site da ALMG.
Eluciana não é a mãe da criança. Ela filmou a passageira durante um voo da Gol e, no vídeo, perguntou se Jeniffer “tem algum problema”. “Estou gravando a sua cara porque você não tem empatia com as pessoas. Isso é repugnante”, disse. As imagens foram publicadas nas redes sociais pela filha de Eluciana. A mãe da criança não aparece nas imagens, mas, segundo Jeniffer, ela também a agrediu verbalmente.
Eluciana tem carteira na seccional de Minas Gerais da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB), mas, apesar disso, não tem costume em advogar. Nas redes sociais, ela investe em vídeos sobre nutrição e bem-estar.
A mulher foi candidata nas eleições de 2016 e de 2018, respectivamente, a vereadora de Belo Horizonte e a deputada estadual por Minas Gerais. Não se elegeu em nenhuma das tentativas.
Atualmente, Eluciana é filiada ao Podemos, partido pelo qual disputou as eleições de 2018. Antes disso, ela fazia parte do Cidadania (então Partido Popular Socialista – PPS), sigla pela qual disputou as eleições de 2016 para a Câmara Municipal de Belo Horizonte.
Em julho de 2021, Eluciana foi denunciada pelo Ministério Público Eleitoral (MPE) por apresentar supostos documentos falsos durante a prestação de contas da campanha dela de 2018. Segundo o MPE, a candidata teria falsificado a assinatura da irmã e do marido nos contratos e nos recibos entregues à Justiça Eleitoral. Os familiares supostamente trabalharam na campanha dela e ganharam R$ 2 mil cada, segundo dados do Tribunal Superior Eleitoral.
Eluciana admitiu ter assinado os documentos em nome dos parentes, mas esclareceu que o fez sem dolo, sem intuito de violar a fé pública.
O juiz da 29ª Zona Eleitoral de Belo Horizonte Marcelo Gonçalves de Paula acatou o argumento da defesa e decidiu, em março de 2022, pela absolvição de Eluciana do crime de falsidade ideológica.
