A campanha de reeleição de Fuad Norman (PSD) recebeu uma significativa contribuição de Rubens Ometto Silveira Mello, um dos sócios da mineradora Vale e também proprietário do Grupo Cosan (Rumo Logística e a rede de combustíveis Ipiranga), que doou R$ 2 milhões. Esta doação representou 9,11% do total arrecadado pela campanha, que somou R$ 21,9 milhões. Os dados foram apresentados na prestação de contas ao Tribunal Regional Eleitoral de Minas Gerais (TRE-MG).
Rubens Ometto, que figura entre as dez pessoas mais ricas do Brasil segundo a Revista Forbes, encabeçou a lista de maiores doadores pela quarta eleição consecutiva. Neste ano, ele distribuiu R$ 17,2 milhões em 185 doações, sendo 22 para diretórios municipais e nacionais de partidos e 163 para candidaturas em nove estados. Sua fortuna é avaliada em US$ 1,4 bilhão. O aumento de 129% nas doações em 2024, em comparação aos R$ 7,4 milhões doados em 2022, destaca sua crescente participação no financiamento político.
Além de Ometto, Beatriz Nazareth Teixeira de Souza também contribuiu com R$ 500 mil para a campanha de Fuad. O diretório do PSD desempenhou um papel crucial, transferindo R$ 15,9 milhões para a campanha, que culminou na vitória de Fuad na disputa pela prefeitura de Belo Horizonte.
Outras contribuições notáveis vieram de Rubens Menin Teixeira de Souza e Ricardo Guimarães, ambos da SAF do Atlético, que doaram R$ 500 mil e R$ 350 mil, respectivamente.
Bruno Engler, que perdeu a eleição para a prefeitura de Belo Horizonte, recebeu R$ 100 mil de Ricardo Guimarães para sua reeleição como deputado estadual em 2022, tendo declarado um gasto total de pouco mais de R$ 700 mil naquela disputa.
